About Leilani Ronae

Author Biography 

     My name is Leilani Ronae. I moved to Melrose New Mexico when I was about 4 years old. Similar to my protagonist, Jessi, I was a shy child. I had an older brother, Roger, who passed away when I was almost 11 years old. We moved to Floyd where I graduated from high school with honors. 

     My mom and dad divorced in1988. Even though my parents weren't a couple any longer, we were still a close-nit family.  My dad was always there. When I was in junior high school, I participated in basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading. In high school, I was on the yearbook staff. I became a member of the National Honor Society. I was also honored as a member of Whos Who in math. Before graduating, I started the FHS drama club. While I was in the 10th grade, I entered a poetry contest sponsored by the Library of Congress and my work was featured in one version of the book titled 'In the Desert Sun.' 

    Throughout school,  I had always had a fascination with the written word. I loved to read. Novels gave me great enjoyment and a view into a life that wasn't my own. I dreamed of creating a world that my readers could lose themselves in. I wrote my first story when I was only nine years old. My creative bone expands beyond stories, I have written songs. Other creative works include pencil drawings of people; ink drawings; painting and rock painting. I feel blessed by the talent that God has given me.

   In 2005, my family moved to West Virginia to care for my dad after he went to care for his mother. And then in 2007, I moved to Washington to work at Boeing. I am now a certified book publisher and certified herbalist. I also have my associates degree in culinary arts.

   I am happily married to Charles Lilly. I have 5 children and 5 grandchildren.
